New Chief Judge

Please be advised that the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Alabama has a new Chief Judge effective tomorrow, October 1, 2021.  Chief United States District Judge Kristi K. DuBose will step down from her duties as Chief Judge, but will remain an active, full-time District Judge in our Court.  United States District Judge Jeffrey U. Beaverstock will assume the duties of Chief Judge.

Judge Beaverstock was confirmed as a District Judge in the Southern District of Alabama on August 1, 2018, and has served in that role continuously since that time.  Judge Beaverstock served on active duty for four years in the United States Army, and currently holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps of the U.S. Army (Reserve).  Prior to becoming a judge, Judge Beaverstock was in the private practice of law in Mobile, Alabama, from 1998 to 2018.  He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from The Citadel in 1991, and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1998.
