POWER Act - CLE Opportunity

This Court is co-sponsoring a virtual event in support of the POWER Act, scheduled for May 20, 2026, at 3:00 CT.  The Alabama Bar has approved an hour of CLE credit for participating, and you can register here.   There is no cost to register. (View PDF Flier)

The Pro Bono Work to Empower and Represent (POWER) Act was signed into law in September 2018 to help combat domestic abuse and sexual violence.  The Act mandates that every Federal Judicial District must hold an annual event promoting pro bono legal services as a critical way to empower survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.  The bill also requires that every two years an event be held in areas with high numbers of Native Americans, with a focus on addressing issues unique to Native populations.  As in past years, a broad group of federal district courts have partnered for a virtual event with some notable and impressive speakers.
