PUBLIC NOTICE – Jury Scams

Tuesday, February 4, 2025

This court will never ask you to pay money related to any jury service.

The Court has recently become aware of a significant increase in jury scam activity. The scammers will typically make contact by telephone and will identify themselves (falsely) as being affiliated with this court and calling on behalf of a specific judge of this court. They will say it is an urgent matter, that you failed to appear for jury duty, and that there is a warrant for your arrest. To clear the warrant, they will demand that you make a large cash payment via a gift card or kiosk. They will sound very persuasive and intimidating.  THIS IS A SCAM. The federal court does not operate in that manner.  Under no circumstances will anyone from the court demand money from you for missing jury duty. Do not pay anything. If you have any doubt as to the legitimacy of such a call, please hang up and contact the Clerk’s Office directly at (251) 690-2371.
