McVCIS- Free Case Information Service

The Multi-Court Voice Case Information System (McVCIS) provides callers with free access to limited court case information via a toll-free telephone number.  The public may call 1-866-222-8029 with a touchtone telephone 24 hours per day, 365 days per year to obtain the most requested information about cases filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Alabama.

Options for searching for Civil and Criminal cases with McVCIS include:

  • Defendant (both individual and corporation)
  • Plaintiff (both individual and corporation)
  • Case number.

When searching by case number, the application asks for the 7-digit case number, which is the 2-digit year and 5-digit case number.  Do not include the office code, which is the leading digit before the year.  If a case number has fewer than 5 digits, be sure to include leading zeros.

For example:

  • For case number:   8:25-cv-00585, enter 2500585.
  • For case number:  1:25-cv-12, enter 2500012.
